TRAVEL / MYBESTJOURNEYS: www.janpetrus.no - Holy places are characterized by a special spirituality and a different energy, which can hardly be measured, but still experienced. For my own part, I have always been attracted to such places, and will for the rest of my life remember: Jeruasalem in Israel and Assisi in Italy and now in Krakow in Poland. - The city is characterized by its unique history from the 1100s through to its position as Poland's cultural capital. Important fragments of city architecture and atmosphere of the Jewish Kazimiersz - district dates back to the 1400s, and its more than 200 churches of all sizes and in all "order" trends in the Catholic Church.

VISITORS and tourists will naturally seek out many of its churches and monasteries. Just as surely, most people will be surprised over the intensity, the atmosphere and the vibrant life for many of them. Even in the largest and most visited: St. Mary's Church, which is also the city's Cathedral in Gothic style, a marvel of worship, prayer meetings and confession that is in constant use, as well as the many concerts, art exhibitions and the monk and nun-clad students that one encounters everywhere. - All this means that no one can visit the city with no sense of faith, power and influence. People use the church every day and every hour throughout the year. Sundays filled the sidewalks that the soccer match of churchgoers on their way to mass. And everywhere lit candles to the Virgin Mary and Pope John Paul II, who was born in the small town of Wadowice, an hour's drive from Krakow, the 18.mai 1920, and as the 1st of May 2011 was beatified by the Vatican as a step on the road to be able to announce him to be St. Johannes. - It's a strange curtain of something historic that we recognize but do not yet know. For award blessed by the pope, who had most of his work here in Krakow, is probably just the beginning of something even bigger.

ALREADY now appears to Pope John Paul II, the purest national saint, with its numerous statues in public spaces, besides the newly papal banners decorate churches and halls anywhere. For my part I will point out that "In particular the cult of Maria with roots in Pope's pious ideals and karmelittiske spirituality seems to put the mark on the city's spiritual life" - is why people say that Pope John Paul II was a true mystic with the motto: "" Totus Tuus Maria / or: "Full and completely yours, Mary" - In this turn of honour from Jesus to Mary, I believe we will experience both a different theology and a longterm policy for peace and reconciliation between the major religions. Which also stated that: Marin Buber-inspired dialogue program of the meeting between my own I and another's YOU, as Pope John Paul II, took the initiative. - Why can not the Pope's importance for Krakow, considered high enough. What happens here will affect us and the Europeans for decades to come. For the holy knows no boundaries, nor in this amazing city! - With best regards / jph

Viktige fragmenter i byens arkitektur og atmosfære er det jødiske Kazimiersz - distriktet med røtter tilbake til 1400-tallet, og byens mer enn 200 kirker i alle størrelser og i alle ”ordens”-retninger innenfor Den Katolske Kirke.

BESØKENDE og turister vil helt naturlig oppsøke mange av byens kirker og klosteranlegg. Like sikkert vil de fleste overraskes over intensiteten, atmosfæren og det pulserende livet i mange av dem. Selv i den største og mest besøkte: Mariakirken, som også er byens Katedral i gotisk stil, vil en forundres over tilbedelsen, bønnesamlingene og skriftestolene som er i kontinuerlig bruk, foruten de mange konserter, kunstutstillinger og munke- og nonne kledde studenter som en møter overalt. – Alt dette fører til at ingen kan besøke byen uten å fornemme troens makt og innflytelse. Folk bruker kirken, hver dag og hver time året rundt. Søndager fylles fortauene som til fotballkamp av kirkefolket på vei til messe. Og overalt tennes lys for jomfru Maria og Pave Johannes Pauls II som ble født i den lille byen Wadowice , en times biltur fra Krakow, den 18.mai 1920, og som den 1.mai 2011 ble saligkåret av Vatikanet som et steg på veien for å kunne kåre ham til helgen. – Det er et underlig sceneteppe for noe historisk som vi aner, men ennå ikke vet. For saligkåringen av paven som hadde mesteparten av sitt virke her i Krakow, er sannsynligvis bare begynnelsen på noe enda større.

ALLEREDE nå fremstår pave Johannes Paul II, som den reneste nasjonalhelgenen med sine utallige statuer i det offentlige rom, foruten de nylagede pavebannerne som pynter kirker og forsamlingslokaler overalt. For egen del vil jeg peke på at ”Særlig Mariadyrkelsen med røtter i pavens fromhetsideal og karmelittiske spiritualitet synes å sette preg på byens åndelige liv” – Derfor sier mange at pave Johannes Paul II var en sann mystiker med valgspråket: ”Totus Tuus Maria” / eller: ”Full og helt din, Maria” – I denne dreiningen av gudstilbedelsen fra Jesus til Maria, tror jeg vi vil oppleve både en annerledes teologi og en langsiktig politikk for fred og forsoning mellom de store religionene. Noe som også fremgår av det: Marin Buber-inspirerte dialogprogrammet om møtet mellom mitt eget JEG og en annens DU, som pave Johannes Paul II, tok initiativet til. – Derfor kan heller ikke pavens betydning for Krakow, vurderes høyt nok. Det som skjer her vil angå oss og alle europeere i årtier fremover. For det hellige kjenner ingen grenser, heller ikke i denne fantastiske byen! – med beste hilsen / jph
