Trondheim is a beautiful and charming city. Full of interesting architecture, old wooden houses and - not least - the great Gothic cathedral Nidarosdomen.
We arrived in Trondheim as part of our long train journey with the NSB, In Trondheim, we had one night and a day before we went on with the night-train to Bodø on Nordlansbanen –the railway from Trondheim to Bodø.
The first thing you should do when you come to Trondheim is to visit the tourist information office on the square to rent City-bikes. It costs 70 NOK per bike for a day plus deposit. Bike stations are very close to all major attractions. With the bike you will experience the atmosphere, look at the pleasant streets and ride over the many bridges, without spending the entire day.
The cathedral the bishop's palace, the old Town Bridge, the castle and Munkholmen are important attractions not to be missed. Trondheim is a city that knows how to charm, particularly when the weather is nice, the river that flows quietly through the city, the fresh colors of the houses and the incredibly friendly people who live there.
I have also heard that Trondheim have a vibrant nightlife, but we were not able to explore this now, a good reason to visit Trondheim again.
One thing is for sure, we are charmed, so it will probably not be long before we visit Trondheim again.
By the way, Trondheim is also famous for its Strawberries, lensvikbær)and the best time to get a taste is in mid july
