Norway, Tyrifjorden: A nice warm bath and a windy pedal boat ride.

A long white beach, warm sun from blue skies, and fresh water, sounds like Lago de Garda Italy right? But no, this is Norway. To be more precise, its Tyrifjoren, and Onsakervika in the north end of Tyrifjorden, about 50 km north of Oslo.

When the thermometer turns 23 degrees – which in Norway is quite hot –there is not many things that feels as good as a bath. only lie on the beach for the entire day and eat Ice-cream and big, red, dripping wet and sweet water-melon; just relax and enjoy the sun, because in Norway, you never know when it will be gone again, and suddenly the summer might be over before it had even started.

Onsakervika is a large and popular beach in the north end of Tyrifjorden, on the beautiful slopes of the historical and beautiful Røyse. Onsakervika is a modern camping site with modern and clean facilities, a small shop with fast food and ice-cream. The camping also has cabins for rent, although they are not very modern, but OK, anyway the most important thing here is the beach, right?

On Onsakervika there is plenty of things to do. For the kids there is a water slide, a play-tower, basket court. Diving tower, pool tables etc. me and my girlfriend rented a pedal bout, and went on a romantic bout ride out on Tyrifjorden.

Unfortunately when the hour we had paid for was about to end the wind picked up, and we was still far out on the lake, so we used an extra hour to get back again to the shore, I have never pedaled so fast in my entire life, and I’m still sour in my ties, but still, this was a romantic and nice pedal bout ride and I’m already looking forward to the next one - If I only can talk my girlfriend inn to it-.

If you are planning a camping holiday in this aria, Onsakervika is the perfect place to see and explore Tyrifjorden and Røyse. If you are interested in røyse you should read my bike trip in Røyse story here on Mybestjourneys.com
