The Cathedral of Milan in Italy is the world's third largest church after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and Seville Cathedral in Spain. - However, it is not the size, but the architecture, beauty and greatness that draws visitors like a huge magnet. Without the Cathedral, Milan would have been a different city than Milan today.
St Maria Nascente, which originally was called the church was begun in 1386 and completed the entire 500 years later. When the mirror the contemporary forms of expression and the ancient world view. For the church was God himself called both the "architect" and creator. A cathedral was therefore a repetition and an encyclopedia of the world's creation. All significant beings, things and events were presented in images or sculptures. As an open book should the Cathedral tell everything they knew about the world and about God.

The Duomo in Milan is not a museum but a living church. People come here to pray, think and act. - It all can be compared to a pilgrim journey, which includes both the Confession and the Penance five steps.

1 )It starts with the longing for human / peccator who seek the church
for silence.
2 )Within the large doors invite the church's architecture to a walk
toward the high altar. But the need and fear / contritio for the
consequences, get many to first light a candle in front of one of the
many altars.
3 ) Some - and perhaps more than we think, kneels afterwards on one of the many writing seats to facilitate/confessio - about something that bothers their consience.
4) After having relieved his conscience, whether in writing chair, or in one of the pews, so does the modern pilgrimage up their digital camera to photograph the high altar as a deposit and a memory of their experience / acceptance / absolutio
5) Now it's time to turn our gaze toward the Western Wall and the rose painting. In an almost heavenly light / santificato, we'll go out to the bustle and traffic.

So far how I experienced the Cathedral in Milan. Remember: I was just one of thousands who did the same this special day..
