The doors on Grand hotel are heavy and high, I get a majestic feeling as I walk in the lobby toward the reception, My whole life I have admired this hotel in the middle of Karl Johann in Oslo. Grand hotel is famous world wide for housing most of the Nobel peace prize laureates, the latest Barack Obama, but also big names like Martin Luther King, Eli Wiesel and Dalai Lama.

Me and my girl friend was to celebrate this New Years Eve in Oslo, and we booked a room on Grand Hotel to set a nice frame around the celebration. There is an old saying that states: that how you celebrate New Years Eve, is how the year to come will turn out - and with a frame like this, it must become very good

The Hotel is located on Karl Johan - Oslo Parade Street - so after checking in early, there was time for a nice lunch in Oslo before the party started.

The breakfast on Grand is served in the traditional Grand Cafè – The same café where the famous Norwegian writer Henrik Ibsen ate twice a day in the late 1800 and which has been a gathering place for the Norwegian cultural elite since its opening in 1870, - Edward Munch also was a regular in grand café and when he could not afford to pay for his meals he apparently gave the waiters paintings as payment - an incredible place to eat; a very inspiring environment ; a lovely breakfast buffet and some good conversation about what we expect from 2010. To start the New Year in a place like this is a memorable experience, and with very good company this was a breakfast I will never forget.

Grand hotel set’s a romantic and nice frame around the celebration. So to bring someone you love, and experience this together is a very nice thing to do; and if it is true that how you celebrate is how the year turns out – well then I’m looking forward to 2010.
