Bergen Food Festival

Every year - in mid September the Bergen Food Festival attracts farmers and fish suppliers to the Bergen-docks,to show and sell their products. The docks are full of all sorts of locally produced food. Have you ever tasted a Eco-hamburger produced in Voss? or what about the classic Norwegian Smalahue? ( sheep head) no? Then this is your chance. :)

I visited Bergen and «fell» into the food festival by mistake, but the smorgasbord made me stay all day, walking around, tasting all the exiting food. There is also a really good atmosphere on the dock and the people seems happy and friendly -maybe because they are stuffed with good Norwegian eco-food or because of the beer-stands - I don't know

Many of the exhibitors and food suppliers are members of Slow Food, an eco-gastronomic organization founded to counteract fast food and fast life and to prevent the disappearance of local food traditions www.slowfood.com

For tourists, the food festival is a great way to taste all the delicious food, that is produced in the west of Norway. How about relaxing with a freshly made ecological hamburger or a mussel-cocktail, together with a beer - surrounded by the old Hansa-buildings on Bergen dock.
