Sometimes you only walk around. A little hungry, but not hungry enough to struggle for the best. One day - like this, we decided to walk along the coast from Lido to Camara Dos Lobos. It is a distance about six kilometers, sometimes a promenade - sometimes the oposite. But it is possible to go through, and I say. Do it once and you will do it over again and again!
1 )We started walking the Pestana-promenade along the coast from Lido. It is a lovely walk, up and downs, with top facilities along: Vieupoints, pubs, bathlands and small coffeshops. We used them all some small kilometers walk to Ponta da Crux. Here we find an exstraordinary experience. Close to the sea. Nearly build into a rock - a restaurant, simple, but charming, small, but crowded with people. We know at once. Here we wanted lunsj. - We find a table and orded the meny. Our filosofy says that a restaurant which serve excellent simple food, always is very good with the more sofisticated meny. At "Doca Do Carvacas" this become very right. The sardines and the starter with gilled shells was ubeleavable tastefull. Simpel, cheap, delicious and marvelous. The servants was busy and a little stressed, but always very kind. We enjoyed our meal and recommend every visitors at Madeira to take promenade to Ponta da Crux. Our Quality-points for: Harmony, Meat and Service give points: 6
2 )After lunsj we continued our walk into a dark tunell, which lead us to a long stonebeach with local people and charming beach-bars. We walked for about 30 minutes in moments of crations between sky and ocean, sun and landscape. We become thirsty and decided to seat the first bar we hit upon. It was an excellent idea. The barname: Jesus, and the hospitality was great. We orded the local bear and a starter with grilled shells in garlicsauce. Take a look at the picture, and do the same when you visit Madeira. 3 )We decided to go further. The next distance become not a promenade, but some climbing and walking along stones and prosject-constructions along the coast. Here someone planned a totaly new and special ocean-walk-promenade, which shall be finished before 2012, they told us. Do not be afraid. You can walk slowly and safe along the constructions, until you have to pass one little river. Here you have to swim, or walk around some constructions and steps up to the mainroad. Do what you feel for, but do not stop. Something very special is waiting on the other side. Here you find the Camara Dos Lobos promenade, which give you one of the most historic viuvs of the old Madeira and their way of living, as fishermen.
We walked inside the village. Happy to our long promenade and the gifts we get. - Suddenly we discovered the wellknown restaurent CHURCHIL, just in front. Here we diceided to end our long walk, with an excellent and expencive dinner with all the best from the ocean.
