In the Fall of 2005 I went to London to check out what this city has to offer an adventurous girl like me =D The subway easily took me all over the city for a little cost.
First thing that cought my eye was the London Eye. I was determend to catch a ride on it, but as I got closer, I relized how high it was. Hence I'm scared of hights, I enjoyed looking at it instead. I bet the view from there would be spectacular! The famous Big Ben was nearby, and I also saw the Prime Minister's house with the guards outside.
I went to look at the Buckingham Palace and it was more beautiful than I thought, as I saw it in a beautiful sunset with the red and yellow fall leaves all around. I didn't see any royal people, but oh well =)
The shopping opportunities are awesome! I went to Hamleys, a toystore that I was told was the biggest in Europe, and so I could believe! It was 5 floors packed with all kinds of fun for kids (and grown-ups who hasn't grown up quite yet..)! For a girl who loves shopping for clothes, there were stores all over town, many with reasonable prices compared to Norway.
I went to the theather and saw the "Phantom of the Opera", although I'm not usually a fan of that kind of music.. But it turned out to be an amazing experience! The performers were så profesional, and the music so beautiful.. but in the end I was glad it was all over, even though I wouldn't have missed it for the world =)
Taking a Sunday walk in Hyde Park on the endless green lawns, around the huge trees, is so peaceful and relaxing (romantic?). The English are so welcomeing and polite, and it's easy to make new friends, London I will be back soon !
