Trond Strøm Lie exploring Norway

Norway by train. Experience Norway in 6 days. Part one

It's almost midnight in Trondheim, we have just received the key to the sleeping cabin, lifted the bag on the shelf and now we are heading for the cafe car to get us a snack before we go to sleep. During the night nordlansbanen will bring us beyond the polar circle and the railway end station, Bodø. Outside it is bright light. I'm trying to stay awake, taking in all the impressions, experience the rough nature bathed in the midnight sun, but eventually I fall asleep. 10 hours later, the train rolls into Bodø Station.

From Oslo to Bergen by train

The conductor blows her whistle, and the train starts mowing from Oslo Central-station toward Bergen. This train journey passes through a beautiful mountain pass and reaches on its highest point 1222 Meters above sea level.

A rainy day in Kragerø

Finally there was time for a new road trip and this time I decided do go to the coastal town Kragerø in the south of Norway. Most people go to Kragerø to swim and sunbath. Me on the other hand went to Kragerø to look at and photograph the very steep streets, the buildings that cling to the mountain wall and to try to catch the lazy mood that you find in these coastal towns during the tourist season.

Fefor Høifjellshotell

Fefor hotel is located at the shore of Fefor lake and at the base of Feforkampen in Guldbrandsdalen Fefor hotel is a hotel with great mountain tradition it's not the most modern hotel, But it has a certain charm. It is nice an clean and the staff is service minded. The food is OK, the restaurant is not as luxuries as other mountain hotels and there is some room for improvement.

Peer Gynt

Åse: Peer du Lyver! Peer Gynt: Nei jeg gjør ei! Åse: nå så bann på at det er sant! Peer Gynt: hvorfor banne?

I arrived in Røros early in the morning after driving from Trondheim. about 2 and a half hour drive. And I ate my breakfast at a very nice cafè and bakery called Trygstad Bakeri in Kjerkegata, the main street in the old town. The mountain settlement of Røros is one of Europe's oldest preserved wooden towns. And in 1980 it was awarded a place on UNESCO's list of world Heritage sites.

Olavfestdagene Trondheim

I always have to little time when I am in Trondheim and this time was no different. I had got a really good deal on the Katie Melua concert during the Olav fest days (st. Olav celebration). The festival is a mix between a medieval festival and a music festival, many good artist both classical and pop music perform during the festival days and all over Trondheim you can see different activities connected to the festival, although most of the action is in front of Nidarosdomen and in the courtyard to Erkebispegården .

Trond exploring Norway part one

I've been planing for a long time to get to know my own country better. So when I got a real good deal on a Katie Melua concert ticket in Trondheim, I found the excuse I was looking for to start exploring :) I left home (Hønefoss ca 50 km north of Oslo) early in the morning on Thursday and started driving the 473 kilometers toward Trondheim, I drove across Dovrefjeld. The beautiful mountain urges you to stop for every 5 minutes to take photos of this breathtaking nature. I reached Trondheim about 5 pm and my concert started 7.30 so that gave me a little time to explore Trondheim.
