Yesterday, after a short trip out we took an early evening. A long day of traveling made us too tired to enjoy the best of Bergen's nightlife, instead we woke up early today and spent the morning in bed, looked out of the windows of our hotel room overlooking Bryggen.
I am totally speechless over how great our hotel room is. A small attic room with 5 small windows. I have opened a window to let in some of the noise from the city, I hear the fishermen at the fish market sell fish to tourists and I hear the light breeze.
The sun shines through the orange roof of the Bergen fish-market, making a dim, mystic atmosphere, the smell of fish is imminent and everywhere I look, my eyes fall on a sea-delicacy.
Rica Bergen is located on the south-west corner of Smålungeren/Byparken, an excellent starting point if you want to explore Bergen; only a short walk to Torgallmenningen (Bergen city-center) and Bryggen(Bergen dock).
Every year - in mid September the Bergen Food Festival attracts farmers and fish suppliers to the Bergen-docks,to show and sell their products. The docks are full of all sorts of locally produced food. Have you ever tasted a Eco-hamburger produced in Voss? or what about the classic Norwegian Smalahue? ( sheep head) no? Then this is your chance. :)
The conductor blows her whistle, and the train starts mowing from Oslo Central-station toward Bergen. This train journey passes through a beautiful mountain pass and reaches on its highest point 1222 Meters above sea level.
